On the 9th day of Christmas Cocktails, Everybody Loves Pretty gave to you Hot Buttered Bourbon, Spiced Apple Margarita, a cranberry martini, hot apple-cider floats, Chocolate Candy-Cane Martini, Spiced Cranberry Sangria, Spiked Coconut Chai Latte, Warm Mulled Wine, and a recipe for Rum and Eggnog.
Today is pretty exciting for three reasons: 1) I am now officially on holidays 2) It snowed a decent amount today and 3) I get to share this recipe for delicious hot buttered bourbon with you! Now if you’re from elsewhere you may be thinking that snow in Canada isn’t really that exciting. But where C and I live in Vancouver is pretty mild in temperature and it snows only once or twice a year (and usually not very much). I love snow as long as I don’t have to drive in it! This hot buttered bourbon is the perfect recipe for a snowy winters day or any kind of day really.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
2/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup bourbon
2 cups boiling water
4 sticks cinnamon, for garnish (optional)
Beat brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt with an electric mixer. Blend until smooth. Transfer mixture into large bowl or measuring cup. Add rum and then add boiling water. Divide between four mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks.
Yep it’s that easy! Such a great accompaniment to a cozy night in.
